This award recognises the challenges faced when developing a scheme for affordable home ownership.

The scheme can be a standalone ownership scheme or mixed tenure, but must be at least 30% affordable home ownership, and include at least 30 units.

Don't forget to include the following in your entry:

  • A brief summary of the scheme, setting out headline details including numbers/types of homes and the tenure mix
  • A minimum of eight high-res images of the project/scheme (internal and external)
  • Floor plan(s)
  • Area and site location maps, including postcode
  • Company logo/s
  • Link to the project website

The judges will be looking for

Developments that have successfully met some or all of the criteria below, demonstrating:

  • Innovation to support people into home ownership including design features and specification.
  • Examples of additional facilities developed as part of the scheme, for example, community centre, gym. Evidences local input and their response to the facilities.
  • The landscaping, flow through and neighbourhood areas as well as the sensitivity of the building to the surrounding area.
  • How opportunities were maximised to obtain the best value for money from the scheme for both the residents and the housing provider.
  • Evidence of performance against original scheme objectives, including sustainability targets; success of partnership working with stakeholders; how the development met the needs of the local market and sales success, with clear metrics.
  • Customer satisfaction with the sales and after-sales process, with clear metrics.

Entries are likely to be awarded higher marks where the affordable home contribution is significant and where the scheme provides additional facilities to benefit the community and neighbourhood.
